My name is Vicky Tan, and I grew up in Muar, Malaysia.
It is a small town where life moves at a slower pace. There may not have been much glamour, but there was an abundance of genuine human warmth. Growing up in such an environment taught me to treat people with sincerity and to treasure the simplest acts of kindness.
My parents loved me dearly, especially my father. Although he cared deeply for me, he always encouraged me to become independent. He taught me that true confidence does not come from what others give you, but from your ability to face life with courage and responsibility.
My life has never been filled with dramatic twists or extraordinary achievements.
If I had to describe it, I would simply say that I have always been someone who takes life seriously and lives it wholeheartedly.
When I was young, I became a beautician. Every day, I cared for my clients and devoted myself to doing my work well. It was a simple but fulfilling life. Later, I stepped outside my comfort zone and became a distributor for a professional skincare brand, marking the beginning of my journey into entrepreneurship and sales.
That decision opened a much bigger world for me and gradually helped me overcome the limitations I had placed on myself.
I still remember the very first time I walked into a beauty salon to introduce myself and my products.
As I stood at the entrance, my heart was racing.
I knew I was not someone who was naturally good at selling. I wasn’t eloquent, nor was I skilled at promoting myself. In fact, I was probably too honest and too straightforward.
Yet, I walked in anyway.
Looking back, I have come to realize that life rarely begins when we feel fully prepared. It begins when we choose to move forward despite our fears.
That single step eventually led me to spend the next twelve years with LADERM.
Over these twelve years, I have grown from someone who knew very little into the person I am today. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities, trust, and guidance the company has given me.
Beyond professional knowledge, LADERM taught me how to communicate with people, develop a strong work ethic, and continue growing as a person. Whenever I felt uncertain, overwhelmed, or questioned my own abilities, there were always people who believed in me, encouraged me, and walked alongside me.
Those experiences and relationships have become some of the greatest blessings in my life.
I have never considered myself an outstanding salesperson.
I do not make unrealistic promises, nor do I exaggerate to close a sale.
Instead, I have always believed that sincerity is far more powerful than any sales technique.
Perhaps that is why many of my clients have stayed with me for years. They returned, made repeat purchases, and even referred their friends and family.
Eventually, I realized that people trust you not only because of the products you offer, but because they genuinely feel that you care about their well-being.
One thing I have always treasured is companionship.
Many people come to me not simply to buy skincare products, but because they need someone who is willing to listen.
Over time, I learned that the deepest connections between people are never built through selling. They are built through genuine care and heartfelt sincerity.
Becoming a mother brought another chapter of growth.
During the early years of building my business, one of the hardest struggles was not being able to spend as much time with my children as I wanted. Every time I left home for work, my heart felt torn.
But I knew that everything I was working for was not only for myself, but also to provide a more secure and comfortable future for my family.
Today, I have two daughters, aged sixteen and ten.
More than anything, I hope they will one day remember not how difficult life was for their mother, but how earnestly and courageously she chose to live.
As the years have passed, I have learned to make peace with life.
I am not someone who dwells on complaints. Of course I experience sadness and disappointment, but I never allow myself to remain there for long. I truly believe that no obstacle is impossible to overcome.
Sometimes, letting go requires even greater courage than holding on.
Throughout this journey, I am especially grateful for my husband’s unwavering support.
He has always been there to offer advice, guide me in learning sales and business management, and walk beside me through the many seasons of marriage, family life, and personal growth.
Today, I no longer measure success by how much I achieve.
Instead, I treasure the quiet moments that make life meaningful—working with dedication, enjoying simple meals, spending precious time with my family, and treating others with kindness and sincerity.
I have come to realize that living each day wholeheartedly is already a remarkable achievement.
Life does not have to be extraordinary to be meaningful.
I simply hope that when I look back one day, I will be able to say with peace in my heart:
I lived gently. I lived sincerely. And I truly lived every moment to the fullest.
If you would like this Adapt this into a more inspirational book style similar to Chicken Soup for the Soul or She Rises, I can also make it more literary and emotionally evocative while keeping the meaning intact.
