Regain Your Health, Reclaim Your Life

— Tan Sow Yang (Feng Shui Name: Tan Hui Qi)

Many people do not know that I once went through one of the most painful and the most negative energy disturb of my life.

During the COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO), I gave up a stable management position. I also lost years of hard-earned savings due to failed investments and placing my trust in the wrong people. I was deceived, taken advantage of, isolated, misunderstood, and subjected to jealousy. I also endured the heartbreak of losing loved ones. It was during this difficult period that I truly realised one thing: without a healthy body, I would never have had the strength to survive the lowest points of my life.

In truth, I was fortunate to have a happy childhood. My mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather took great care of us. Much of the vegetables, fruits, eggs, chicken, duck and seafood we ate came directly from what our family grew, raised, or caught themselves. This natural, healthy diet, combined with a regular lifestyle, gave me a strong physical foundation from a young age.

As I grew older, I was blessed with a loving husband and three precious children. I was fortunate to conceive each of my three children naturally and without difficulty, pregnant month is decided by myself which made me appreciate even more deeply the happiness that good health can bring.

However, after COVID, my body began sending me serious warning signs. My weight increased to 90 kilograms. I felt exhausted every day, became sleepy after eating, and even struggled to stay awake while driving. I experienced body aches, numbness in my hands and feet, and breathlessness when climbing stairs or even speaking. My quality of life deteriorated significantly.

At that moment, I told myself: “I have to save myself.”

In November 2020, I committed myself to fitness and exercise. Rain or shine, I refused to give up easily. Throughout my training journey, I frequently experienced injuries and pain in my shoulders, lower back, arms, and legs. At times, even buttoning my clothes or holding a steering wheel became difficult. During this period, I also experienced fever, dizziness, diarrhoea, and even an entire month of persistent vertigo.

Yet I continued, because I firmly believed:

“If I give up exercise today, I may be giving up my health tomorrow.”

Gradually, my body began to recover.

Although I had to stop exercising after being hospitalised in 2025 and regained eight kilograms, I returned to healthier lifestyle habits after recovering and successfully lost those eight kilograms again. Throughout this journey, I have lost a total of 18 kilograms.

More importantly, I also let go of painful and negative energy. I regained my health, my confidence, and find back myself.

This journey taught me something profound: what truly changed me was not exercise alone, but the commitment to living a healthy lifestyle every single day.

I believe that before we can cultivate the mind, we must first cultivate the body; only by strengthening the body can we strengthen the heart and spirit.

Health is not built in a single day. It is created through the choices we make every day: eating well, getting enough sleep, staying active, and maintaining a positive mindset. Little by little, these choices accumulate and transform our lives.

Today, I hope to share my experience with more people because I believe that health is more than simply having a strong body. It is the foundation that allows us to pursue our dreams, care for our families, and fulfil our purpose in life.

Only with good health can we reclaim our careers, our families, and our future.

Health is life’s greatest victory. With health, we have the strength to reclaim all the good things that truly belong to me.
