Ever since secondary school, I have had a strong passion for taking part in student clubs and extracurricular activities. Whether planning events, organizing workflows, coordinating teams, or taking the stage to energize the audience, I always threw myself into every role. While most people only see the seamless outcome of a successful event, there are often countless unseen pressures and challenges behind the scenes.
Among these experiences, I served in the Youth Wing of the Central Seberang Perai Buddhist Association, where we organized a Buddhist life camp for primary school students. From event planning and scheduling to looking after campers and managing on-site logistics, every detail required seamless teamwork. Though demanding, each event served as a stepping stone for my continuous learning and personal growth.
When I first took on leadership responsibilities, I was not as confident as I might have seemed. I constantly worried about falling short, failing to meet team expectations, or letting a single misstep compromise the entire event. Frequently, I pushed forward while quietly doubting my own capabilities. Faced with pressure, responsibility, and reality, I, too, experienced moments of confusion, exhaustion, and fear of failure.
There were times when preparing for an event meant late-night discussions and endless revisions to the itinerary, only to encounter unexpected emergencies on the actual day. Yet, taxing as it was, those very challenges shaped my resilience.
Over time, I came to realize that growth does not happen overnight; it is built on the willingness to pick oneself up after every stumble and keep moving forward. I learned how to communicate effectively with diverse individuals, maintain composure under pressure, and appreciate the true value of teamwork. At the end of every event, seeing participants engaged and knowing our team had achieved its goal brought me an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. The anxieties and fears that once held me back ultimately transformed into the very force driving my progress.
Today, I am building my career in the beauty industry, having chosen to remain at SPIC following my graduation. I hope to share my journey and learnings with a wider audience while continuing to refine myself through ongoing learning and growth.
I firmly believe that everyone faces moments of self-doubt. However, never let the fear of failure cloud your recognition of your own potential. Real growth always begins with that very first attempt. As long as you are willing to take that step, you will inevitably discover a stronger, transformed version of yourself.
