Story Title: From Survival to Purpose: Choosing Clarity, Courage, and Conscious Growth
My childhood shaped the foundation of who I am today. My father struggled with alcohol, and the conflict between my parents became part of everyday life. I grew up in an environment marked by comparison, control, and emotional tension, where I was rarely allowed to express myself freely. From a young age, I learned what insecurity felt like—long before I understood confidence or safety. I learned how to endure, but not yet how to feel whole.
At fifteen, my world reached a breaking point. I was diagnosed with depression and made the difficult decision to leave school. That year marked my first deep emotional low. Fear of the future consumed me, and thoughts such as “I am not loved” and “I am a burden to my parents” echoed constantly in my mind. While struggling internally, I reminded myself that my mother and younger brother needed me. I chose to keep going—searching quietly for a reason to live, and a life that carried meaning.
At sixteen, I entered the workforce early, constantly searching for direction. I believed that if I kept trying hard enough and proving myself, clarity would eventually come. I explored countless paths—makeup, singing, dancing, dance instructor, modelling, acting, backstage and stage management, direct sales, event crew work, and even founding a talent management company. To others, I appeared capable and resilient. Inside, I felt increasingly empty. I did not yet know how to love myself. I relied on “belonging” and people-pleasing to gain validation, slowly losing my sense of identity within complicated relationships and emotional attachments.
During those years, I associated being needed with having value, and endurance with love. I longed to be loved, yet repeatedly entered relationships lacking responsibility and emotional maturity. Without understanding boundaries, I became emotionally numb, questioning my worth and whether I was ever truly enough.
A turning point came when I encountered The Purpose Driven Life at fifteen. It was the first time I asked myself a defining question: What is my purpose in life? Not merely to survive, but to live life in all its fullness. As failures in both business and relationships accumulated, I realized I had been living fragmented—focusing on achievement or approval while neglecting other essential areas of life. I began learning about self-worth, boundaries, emotional intelligence, and clarity of identity. I understood that a fulfilled life must be lived holistically—across purpose, relationships, family, health, growth, contribution, and calling.
Meeting my husband and stepping into a new environment further expanded my perspective. I transitioned from living for external approval to living by values, from pleasing others to taking responsibility for my own life, and from surviving aimlessly to growing consciously—while still choosing compassion and love.
Motherhood further refined my clarity and maturity. My priorities became grounded, my direction steady. I am grateful that I allowed myself to fail, admit my mistakes, and rise again with integrity—aligned within and honest with who I am.
Today, I aspire to be a Gen Z, 00s woman leader—one who empowers women, strengthens families, and helps build a society where strong women stand together at the front tier. I believe when women gain clarity of their worth and live fully, they do not only transform their own lives—they shape generations to come.
To you who feel lost: confusion does not define you. You are not behind. You are becoming. And your life is worth living with intention, courage, and purpose.
