Ms. Oh — A Teacher Who Turns Faith into Strength
In the year 2000, a 25-year-old young woman stepped into the world with a dream in her heart and only a small amount of savings in her hands. With courage as her capital, she founded Ocean Tuition Centre. That young woman was none other than Ms. Oh.
From that moment on, she devoted herself completely to education — nurturing minds, inspiring hearts, and lighting up the future of countless students. For more than twenty years, her classroom has been filled with both warmth and discipline. She has walked beside children through their toughest academic challenges, becoming a guiding light that never fades.
Then, in 2022, fate struck unexpectedly. Ms. Oh was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. The news hit her hard like a sledgehammer, shattering her peaceful routine. “Will twenty-two years of hard work end here?” she asked herself.
But Ms. Oh was not one to surrender. Within just thirty minutes, she wiped away her tears and chose acceptance, courage, and faith.
The days that followed were filled with surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy — yet even
in her weakest moments, she insisted on standing at the front of the classroom. The weakness after treatments made it hard for her to stand for long periods, yet she pushed through every step to continue teaching. When her hair fell from the treatments, she put on a wig and continued teaching with her trademark smile. Behind that smile was exhaustion and pain — but also a belief that education was her life’s purpose, and that belief became her greatest medicine.
A year later, Ms. Oh triumphed over her illness. Today, she stands once again in the classroom, full of passion and light. Ocean Tuition Centre now stands at the brink of its 26th year — a living symbol of her perseverance, faith and her belief: “When we persevere through adversity, pain transforms into strength.”.
Her story is more than just a victory over cancer. It is a lesson about life, love, and strength.
Through her journey, she shows us that no matter how cruel fate may be, when we hold on to love and conviction, no obstacle is insurmountable.
As Ms. Oh often says:
“Education changes destiny — and faith allows us to be reborn.”
