She Rises The Stories of Youth Power

Name: Soo Kim Li (Lily)
Company: Veil’s Beauty
Business Nature: Beauty
Position: Owner

My name is Lily, and I am a graduate from the first batch of SPIC. I am currently working as a beautician while managing my own beauty salon, and I previously served as the person in charge of a spa center.

After graduating from secondary school, I stepped into the beauty industry and have continued growing in this field ever since. Before starting my own business, my journey in the beauty industry had always been relatively smooth. Because of my passion for this career, I decided to take the courage to start my own business at the age of 23.

At 23 years old, many people were just graduating from university or beginning their first job, but I chose to take on the responsibility of building my own career. Until today, I still believe that entrepreneurship sometimes requires a little courage and impulsiveness. The more prepared you try to be, the more you feel that you are never truly ready.

At that time, I did not have strong financial support. I started my beauty business with only RM10,000 and slowly built everything from the ground up. Being young, I faced doubts, criticism, and people who underestimated me. However, the biggest challenge came when the MCO happened just six months after I opened my business.

During the pandemic, the beauty industry was one of the first industries required to close and among the last to reopen. It was an extremely difficult period with almost zero income, and the pressure was overwhelming. I questioned myself many times and even thought about giving up and returning to work for someone else.

But after becoming an entrepreneur, I realized that what keeps you going is not only the business itself, but also the unwillingness to give up and the determination to continue.

I am truly grateful to the customers who supported me throughout those difficult years. Because they believed in my skills and techniques, they continued supporting me even during the hardest times of the pandemic.

That support became one of the reasons I never stopped improving myself. I believe the beauty industry is not only about skincare and appearance, but also about helping people regain confidence and improve their overall well-being.

I have always been deeply passionate about facial massage and skin management. In 2024, I introduced a rare P.A.T technology system that was still uncommon in Malaysia at the time, hoping to provide deeper and more effective skin management treatments for more people.

Looking back today, I still love this industry deeply, and I believe that as long as we continue to persevere, we will eventually create a path that truly belongs to us.
